Radon Testing in Sacramento
We have performed testing in the greater Sacramento area for numerous home buyers and real estate agents. Radon concentrations are typically in the range of 1 to 3 picocuries per liter (pCi/L), below the 4.0 pCi/L concentration the EPA recommends mitigation for.
While new homes are built with safety features to prevent radon entering the house, those feature can and do fail. The EPA recommends that be tested. We have found at least one new home that exceeded the 4.0 level.
Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer, because of the serious health risks testing is recommended for homes in the Sacramento area to determine the radon level, even though mitigation will not be likely.
Radon Testing in the Foothills
Granite bedrock in the Sierra Nevada Mountains is a source of uranium, and it's degradation by-product Radon Gas. We do find radon, sometimes at high levels, in foothill homes and recommend that all foothill homes be tested.
Radon Testing in the Bay Area
Our experience with testing in the Bay Area has identified levels of Radon gas in some areas. The radon is likely a result of bedrock uranium deposits and can be very localized. We recommend that homes in the Bay Area be tested.
